Technology Can Improve Maternal Health Outcomes
AUTHOR:TMC NetSOURCE:TMC Net
In Rwanda, some community health workers (CHWs) are getting equipped with mobile phones with software that will enable them to provide antenatal care. The handsets were donated by President Paul Kagame, as part of efforts to enhance maternal and child healthcare in rural areas. Life For Mothers will also be using a similar technology to train community residents to become CHWs. They will be educated in antenatal and postnatal protocols as well as family planning options and child survival with software programs already downloaded on their phones.
