New Film Gets Men Talking About Condoms
AUTHOR:IRIN NewsSOURCE:IRIN News
“Protection,” a new documentary film, follows “ordinary” men from three sub-Saharan countries, South Africa, Kenya, and Sierra Leone, as they deal with the threat of HIV. The film’s goal is to increase awareness about HIV and its transmission, and to get men talking about and using condoms on a regular basis. Scenes in the film highlight various social factors that influence young men’s behavior and their likelihood of using condoms. These include the conflicting forces of parental guidance and peer pressure. Life for Mothers applauds executive producer Jill Lewis and her team for creating this interesting and important film and hopes that it will help to open the discussion about HIV and condoms among young men in Africa and around the world.
